Panama’s Tourism Boom: Record Visitors Expected in 2024
The recent expansion of the Tocumen Airport has contributed to a record increase in the number of visitors which are expected to far exceed the 1.87 million tourists recorded in the year 2023.
According to data from the Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR), Panama expects to receive an estimate of 2.9 million tourists during the year 2024, which will produce an economic spillover estimated in US$1,800 million.
The Tocumen airport, which in terms of connectivity is the most important in the region, has promoted strategic alliances with various international airlines, allowing not only the possibility of being a direct point-to-point, but also increasing the number of visitors arriving from the United States, Canada, Europe and South America, to name a few, and most importantly increasing the tourists stay times
